The Rt Hon Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean | Senior Labour member of the House of Lords and a former Deputy Leader of the House of Lords
Baroness Symons was a Minister in the UK Government from 1997 until stepping down in 2005 and served as Minister for the Middle East, Minister for International Trade, Minister for Defence Procurement, and the Prime Minister’s Envoy to the Gulf.
A former General Secretary of the First Division Association (FDA), she was also an Equal Opportunities Commissioner and a governor of the London Business School and the London School of Economics.
For many years she worked closely with law firm DLA Piper as Head of Government Relations and was a non-executive director of British Airways (BA) and Manchester Airports Group (MAG).
She is Chairman of the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce (ABCC), President of the Saudi-British Joint Business Council (SBJBC), President of the British Export Authority (BExA), Chairman of the British Egyptian Society (BES), and a member of the advisory board of the Egyptian British Business Council (EBBC).
