Rebecca Hopkins | CEO, The STA Group

Rebecca is an entrepreneur and sports communications and marketing specialist with over 20 years’ international sector experience. 

​

Her career started at News International and included roles at The Telegraph Group, AMV and Haymarket. Her corporate life concluded with a pivotal role at BT, where she spent two years activating sports sponsorships. 

In 2002, she pioneered, established, and successfully divested The Sports Industry Awards, leveraging them to kickstart her inaugural venture, ENS, an award-winning sports PR agency which serviced some of the biggest brands in the sector.

In 2012, Rebecca recognised the burgeoning influence of technology in sports, prompting her to initiate The Sports Technology Awards, a groundbreaking global platform celebrating tech-driven innovation. As the sports tech sector expanded, not least through the pandemic, she pivoted her company and created The STA Group.  

Headquartered in London but with a global footprint, The STA Group is a unique B2B company; it connects global sports with the leading minds and work in technology, engineering, science and design. Rebecca is a vocal champion of equality and sustainability in sport. She has served on the Advisory Boards of Loughborough University's Business School and the International Sports Technology Association. She has guest lectured for CIM and appeared on numerous news channels as a sports media, technology and business pundit and regularly travels to speak and moderate at events worldwide. 

 

In her scarce leisure moments, Rebecca is a passionate Wales rugby supporter, skier and hiker, who has recently taken up golf, although given her aptitude, she is unsure why.
