Dr Philip Batty MB ChB, FRCGP, PG Dip (SEM), FFSEM | Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine, Cleveland Clinic London 

Dr Philip Batty is a Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine at Cleveland Clinic London, with more than 28 years’ experience in elite and high-performance sport. Throughout his career, he has worked with some of the UK’s leading sporting organisations and athletes, including Manchester United, Manchester City and the England Rugby Team.

 

Dr Batty was Deputy Club Doctor at Manchester United from 1996 to 1999, alongside roles with the English Institute of Sport and Sedbergh School, caring for athletes across a wide range of sports, ages and abilities. In 2011–2012, he became Head of Sports Medicine at Manchester City Football Club, a landmark season in which the club won the Premier League. He subsequently served as Senior Team Doctor for the England Rugby Team from 2012 to 2014.

 

His current roles include Team Doctor for Middlesex County Cricket Club, Medical Director for London Spirit and Consultant to the English National Ballet. His extensive experience across elite and recreational sport gives him a comprehensive understanding of performance, injury prevention, physical resilience and the pressures associated with competing at the highest level.
