BIOGRAPHY

Katy Storie | Director of Sport, Newcastle University and Founder of Empowered Sport Leaders

Katy is Director of Sport at Newcastle University with over 24 years of experience working within the Higher Education sport and physical activity equality sector, delivering Future Female Leaders in Sport Programme to over 1,100 women across KSA. 

 

She is Member of Board of Directors for British Universities and Colleges Sport, following her role as the first female Chair of the National Rugby Union Sport Advisory Group.  

 

Katy is a Rugby Football Union England Council Member, Ex Great Britain junior international weightlifter and England Rugby Union player.

 

Katy has significant GCC focused partnership development experience, including key work in the Middle East establishing female sports leadership collaborations in partnership with British Embassies, National & International sporting organisations and Professional sports clubs across KSA, Kuwait, UAE and Oman. 

 

In 2024, Katy used this unique experience and connectivity to found Empowered Sport Leaders, a female led, female focused sport leadership skills development company.
