Martin Whitaker | CEO, Saudi Motorsport Company

 

Martin Whitaker has enjoyed an extensive career in motorsport spanning some thirty years that has included roles throughout the sport. Beginning his career as a motorsport journalist he then moved to the sport’s governing body in the UK the RAC Motor Sports Association. As the communications director for the FIA he was responsible for Formula 1 and the World Rally and Endurance Championships. At Formula One Management he was responsible for the international television broadcasters before moving to Formula 1 team McLaren International. As Director of Motorsport for the Ford Motor Company he was responsible for the company’s Formula 1 and World Rally Championship programmes while sitting as a member of the Formula 1 Commission. In addition, Martin has held the role of Chief Executive Officer for the Bahrain International Circuit and for the international racing series Australian V8 Supercars. Martin is now the CEO of the Saudi Motorsport Company, leading development of the sport in Saudi Arabia and the hosting of international events such as the FIA Formula 1 STC Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and the Dakar Rally.
